The Swiss Federal House in the hands of public transport

Just as public transport connects Switzerland, LITRA – “Informationsdienst für den öffentlichen Verkehr” connects Swiss publictransport.

LITRA is the sought-after political platform for public transport decision-makers, it is opinion-forming in Swiss politics for important public transport business and it informs about relevant public transport topics
The President of the National Council and LITRA President Martin Candinas invited members of LITRA and other public transport representatives to the Federal Parliament this Monday. PROSE was represented by Dr. Bernhard Frei. For PROSE, it is important to participate and have an impact on tomorrow’s mobility, in all we do!

Authorising modifications

The January issue of the Railway Gazette International features the PROSE article “First experiences with the authorisation of modified vehicles under the 4th railway package” written by Senior Consultants Andrea Katharina Fuchs and Stefan Bühler.

GoldenPass – PROSE scope

A few weeks have already passed since the GoldenPass Express went into operation with the change-free connection from Interlaken to Montreux. In the meantime, the winter operation of the gauge hange system in Zweisimmen has already been successfully tested.

Did you know that the the gauge change system in Zweisimmen was developed by PROSE and that we meticulously tested and designed the entire system tolerances – and there are incredibly many of them – between the plant and the bogie?

The scope of tasks for this development was accordingly broad:

  • Feasibility analysis
  • Mechanical and control engineering development
  • Detailed manufacturing design
  • Strength analysis
  • Support approval

Gauge profile: calculation of the demarcation lines

How can operators proceed if they need the largest possible common gaugeprofile which considers all given clearanceprofiles?

Plasser&Theurer has received an order from two different railway operators in Austria regarding narrowgauge maintenance vehicles.

PROSE was assigned to create a calculation of the demarcation lines of the concerned lines, which has to be combined to a common clearance gauge profile. As a result, a calculation report and a 3D envelop of the merged gauge profile has been provided to our costumer.

 

Training in the topic of safety relevant activities

Does your company need a training related to safety relevant activities? Then PROSE is the right contact.

On December 14th Felix Saur held a training on safety relevant activities and components at the workshop of the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn (MGBahn) in Brig.

The two hours session consists of a theoretical and practical part, showing possible damage of bogie components and general failuremodes that could lead to fatal accidents due to derailment. In this context PROSE explains first signs of damage of wheel(-profiles), wheelset axles, brakes and primary suspension that requires the train to be taken out of service.

In the practical part the participants complete a prepared course where they check the safety relevant components of the rail vehicle. The training ends with a Q&A.

PROSE test benches for modules

How do you test individual modules for proper functionality before installation in the vehicle?
With PROSE test benches for the respective modules of course!

PROSE was assigned by Plasser & Theurer Export von Bahnbaumaschinen G.m.b.H. to develop test benches mechanically as well as electrically.

The first units to be tested are the fueltank, the hydraulictank, the coolingsystem, the powerpack and the cabin. PROSE took over the project from the planning phase to the final commissioning of the test benches.

Plasser & Theurer designs, builds and supplies new high-performance maintenance vehicles for the customer ÖBB. The modular design of the HL-IH vehicles is to be used in future vehicles as the key to better series production with a higher number of vehicles.

 

Cybersecurity trainings for PROSE Group

In some cases, it is hard to tell the difference between fake e-mails and real ones. And it is costing companies thousands of Euros to repair the damages after one un-careful click on a link or webpage

With this in mind, the PROSE IT-team together with Quantavis s.r.l. held cybersecurity trainings that involved all PROSE-ians.

Presentation Wheelset and Wheels

How could torsional vibrations of wheelsets be treated in a European standard in the future

As a new member of the standards group “Wheelsets and Wheels”, PROSE-employee Felix Saur was allowed to give a presentation on this question at his first physical meeting at CEN in Brussels.

The EN working group consists of different railroad companies and railroad manufacturers from all over Europe. The interest of all expert participants was very high, resulting in a Q&A session that took almost 3 hours.

It was very interesting to get the different views on this topic from all countries!

Happy news and a double announcement for Prose in France!

We are pleased to welcome Kenzo Simond in our French-team. Kenzo has a strong experience in the field of metropolitan public rollingstock and will be a great asset in our team!

PROSE-France is growing day by day and as a result of this, the team has moved to a bigger office in Lyon

PROSE a new member of CNA Germany

PROSE-Germany has been accepted as a new member of CNA e.V.. A Think Tank for Transport & Logistics.

As a member, we have the possibility to cooperate and partner with other mobility companies in the areas of innovation

CNA e.V. has been founded as a think tank for municipalities, chambers, institutes and companies in the Nuremberg Metropolitan Region. Today it manages an innovation network all over Bavaria and runs the Bavarian Cluster for Railway Technology for the Bavarian Ministry of Economics.

Let’s see what the mobility of tomorrow brings!

 

Collaboration is the key to success!

Latest cross-site accomplishment between PROSE-Swiss team CH and PROSE-Italian team IT is the second track with a change of gauge that came into operation at Zweisimmenstation, which allows for greater mobility in beautiful GoldenPass. Kudos to all involved for the success; project manager Thomas Lehmann with the electrical engineering team in Pisa lead by lead engineer Alessio Pennatini and assisted in the final part of the test by newcomer Michele Pedretti.

We are looking forward to many more cross-site success stories!

PS. Part of this success was to deliver on time, regardless of poring Swiss december rain…
