At PROSE, we are committed to sustainable practices not only in our railway solutions but also in how we organise and follow up on events.
After InnoTrans, we ensured that as many materials and resources as possible were reused. For example, our new PROSE-Berlin office is now enjoying our InnoTrans-booth bar table in the heart of the workspace. To improve indoor air quality, we also brought in the green plants from our exhibition stand. Leftover items, including giveaways, printed advertisement and snacks will find new life at our upcoming events, fairs, and exhibitions.
We’re committed to ensuring nothing goes to waste and everything continues to bring value. These small but meaningful steps reflect our commitment to environmental protection. Let’s keep making a positive impact together.
How do you stay sustainable after events? Share your tips and experiences with us, and let’s inspire each other to do even more for our planet.
PROSE is excited to collaborate with Svenska kraftnät on an important pre-study to investigate the necessity of a specialised railway car for transporting extraordinarily heavy materials like power transformers and reactors. This initiative is vital as Sweden’s aging national grid requires upgrades and renewals to meet future demands.
The study will assess logistical requirements, explore potential solutions, and deliver a comprehensive report on the best way to transport these essential components via rail.
We are proud to support Svenska kraftnät in ensuring the reliability and sustainability of Sweden’s power transmission infrastructure for years to come.
This year’s BahnVerstand GCU practice conference focussed on the future of the GCU (General Contract of Use for Wagons) and the urgent need for rail transport companies to prepare for the upcoming changes.
PROSE-employee Dr Bernhard Frei was present and reported on how PROSE is increasingly advising rail transport companies on organisational development in connection with GCU tasks. The GCU landscape is changing and many rail transport companies are not prepared for the upcoming changes.
In a recent interview, Dr Bernhard Frei explained that while PROSE has its roots in rolling stock engineering, it has evolved to support clients in broader areas such as ECM and SMS (Safety Management Systems), helping rail companies navigate the complex relationships between keepers, operators and organisational change.
Will the sector be prepared for the changes to the GCU by 2026? Dr Bernhard Frei is optimistic that a workable compromise will be found, but companies must prepare for the changes in good time.
Are you suspecting corrosion damage in your vehicle fleet but lack the necessary structural data to address it?
At PROSE, we’ve got you covered!
We developed CAD models and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for affected carbodies, even without existing data. Due to the vehicles’ age, the operator lacked CAD models and structural analyses.
By incorporating the corrosion damage into our model, we were able to define the maximum allowable corrosion and minimum remaining wall thicknesses. For areas with advanced damage, we created tailored repair solutions and ensured the structural integrity of the vehicles. Read more about the project

At PROSE, we specialise in calculating and optimising your bogie frame, carbody, or any other vehicle parts.
Are you struggling to meet strength requirements? Looking to explore weight reduction potential or reduce the required weld performance class? We can help.
Using topological optimisation, we determine the ideal material distribution and placement of strengthening elements in your design. For a more detailed optimisation, we set up a fully automated parameter study with all load combinations and assessment criteria according to EN 13749.
Our in-house software automatically generates various design variations within the maximum build space and calculates the utilisation for each specified element. With the help of optimisation solvers, we choose the ideal parameter set that meets the targeted optimisation criteria.
Whether you need to focus on specific sections and welds or the complete bogie frame, we’ve got you covered.
Take your vehicle design to the next level. Let PROSE’s expertise in optimisation guide your project to success. Contact us
Hydrogen fuel cell trains present an exciting opportunity for the rail industry, offering the ability to travel long distances independently of infrastructure and emitting only water and heat. This makes them a cleaner, greener alternative to diesel trains, significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution.
However, several challenges must be addressed for widespread adoption:
Storage solutions: High-pressure or cryogenic tanks require advanced engineering to ensure safety.
Regulatory approval: Meeting stringent safety and performance standards is a complex process.
Safety measures: Robust protocols are essential for handling hydrogen, which is highly flammable.
Integration issues: Compatibility with existing rail systems and retrofitting older trains require meticulous planning.
Maintenance & training: Updating practices and training the workforce for new technologies is crucial.
In light of these challenges, PROSE and TÜV SÜD have partnered to drive forward the integration of hydrogen technology in railways, ensuring safety, efficiency, and innovation. By working together, we deliver a unified service to help you with authorisation and reduce all possible risks.
