How PROSE solves the “Old depot, new fleet?” dilemma

Last week, we had the opportunity to share our expertise at the IHRUS conference. PROSE employee Tobias Hoppe shed light on the complex interplay between existing depots and new fleet orders and showed how innovative approaches can create solutions.

Here are the three most important take-home messages from his presentation:

  • Mastering challenges: Flexibility and innovative adaptations are the key to making old workshops fit for new requirements.
  • Involve employees: On-site knowledge and precise simulations lay the foundation for successful planning.
  • Shaping the future: Automation and flexibility ensure efficient and sustainable workshop concepts for tomorrow.

Many thanks to all participants for the inspiring exchange! Together we are shaping the future of railway technology.

We are celebrating the 15th anniversary of PROSE Germany

Our first office in Germany was opened in Berlin on November 1, 2009 to strengthen our expertise in engineering and consulting.

In the 15-year-old photo, you see Stefan Bühler as CEO PROSE CH at that time, and André Rohrbeck as Managing Director PROSE DE at that time, in front of the Berlin District Court, Charlottenburg.

Since then, we have continuously expanded our German business. In 2011, a second office in Munich was established by acquiring Ebmeyer und Butz GmbH.

During these 15 years, we have supported over 100 German customers in more than 1000 projects, establishing a strong presence in the German market thanks to our unique expertise in railway technology. Read more about our projects here: https://prose.one/our-references/

A big thank you to our customers for your trust over the years and to our employees for making our success possible. We aim to further grow in the German market and to offer our full range of services from the PROSE Group. We are also seeking new colleagues to contribute to our continued success.

Being part of industry associations is more than just a membership…

…it’s how we influence our industry! By joining forces with our peers, we can make a difference and shape the outcomes of decisions and proposals.

At the Verband der Bahnindustrie in Deutschland (VDB) e.V. (German Railway Industry Association) event, held in Berlin just before InnoTrans, we experienced first-hand how associations create platforms that bring peers together and why these connections are essential.

Besides the enjoyable event, here are our key takeaways:

  • Conversations with sustainability experts highlighted potential partnerships in circular economy initiatives in Germany, promising to align our efforts with sustainable practices.
  • Insights from DAC Europe specialists shed light on the complex journey towards digitalising rail freight transport, sparking discussions on overcoming current challenges.

These experiences remind us why we are committed to being active members: to network, engage with thought leaders, and stay ahead in driving meaningful change.

We are looking forward to the next steps. Let’s connect and shape the mobility of tomorrow together

Addressing workshop challenges for new trains

Guess what we are doing in the photo?
Yes, we were trying to perform maintenance on a new train in an existing workshop. And in the end, we found a solution that allowed us to work in an upright, safe position.

In workshop planning, we have to care about working security, ergonomics, and efficiency. We want our customers to be aware of the infrastructural challenges.

At the IHRUS conference on Thursday 14th of November, we are going to present more challenges and our approach to developing solutions.
Take the opportunity to listen to our expert Tobias Hoppe and how PROSE addresses the dilemma: “Old depot, new fleet?” The fleet order is usually before the workshop planning. We show you how it can still work.

How can we better understand and manage noise emissions from railway vehicles?

Last week,PROSE-employees Dr. Felix Saur, Yves Kohler and Stefan Bühler had the privilege of attending the “Lärmforschung Eisenbahn” event organised by the Swiss Federal Office for the Environment FOEN (BAFU). The event was a hub of knowledge and innovation with around 70 participants from Switzerland, Germany, and Austria.

The program featured six compelling speeches on the topic of noise emissions from railway vehicles. Various models were presented and discussed, each aiming to determine the noise generated by railway vehicles accurately. These models are becoming increasingly detailed and complex, considering the characteristics of the vehicle, the rail, and its substructure.

A notable highlight was the comparison between Switzerland’s state-of-the-art models and Germany’s older “Schall 03” model, showcasing Switzerland’s leading role in driving innovation in this field.

We are proud to be part of events that foster collaboration and knowledge-sharing across borders. We look forward to leveraging these insights to further improve our contributions to the industry.

Why is technical documentation more important than ever in today’s tech-driven world?

Because it ensures that technological advancements are clearly communicated, products are compliant, and quality is maintained at every stage.

At PROSE, we understand that staying ahead in the industry requires continuous development. That’s why we prioritise growth, both on employee and team level. Ensuring we are equipped with the latest knowledge to navigate the future of technology.

Last week, our technical documentation team in Sweden attended the BOTI2024 conference – an inspiring two-day event for technical information professionals. The conference provided insights into emerging trends, from AI and compliance to digital product passports and technical illustrations.

Our team’s three key takeaways from the event:

  • AI won’t replace the role of technical communicators – it will enhance our skills.
  • Future regulations will require digital product passports that track products across their entire lifecycle.

How can sustainability continue after a major event like InnoTrans?

At PROSE, we are committed to sustainable practices not only in our railway solutions but also in how we organise and follow up on events.

After InnoTrans, we ensured that as many materials and resources as possible were reused. For example, our new PROSE-Berlin office is now enjoying our InnoTrans-booth bar table in the heart of the workspace. To improve indoor air quality, we also brought in the green plants from our exhibition stand. Leftover items, including giveaways, printed advertisement and snacks will find new life at our upcoming events, fairs, and exhibitions.

We’re committed to ensuring nothing goes to waste and everything continues to bring value. These small but meaningful steps reflect our commitment to environmental protection. Let’s keep making a positive impact together.

How do you stay sustainable after events? Share your tips and experiences with us, and let’s inspire each other to do even more for our planet.
